2019’s rendition of the G1 Personal Ensign at Saratoga was arguably considered the “race of the meet” when Midnight Bisou and Elate left the field in their dust in a knockdown, drag-out duel to the finish line. Midnight Bisou emerged the winner of a tight photo-finish to record her 5th G1 win on her way to Championship honors that season.
As the reigning champion older dirt mare, Midnight Bisou will look to earn her 14th graded stakes victory with a potential back-to-back win in the G1 Personal Ensign. While only one other horse in history has ever captured back-to-back wins in the Personal Ensign [Beautiful Pleasure], this feat seems entirely possible considering Bisou’s outstanding career where all five of her G1 wins have come at different tracks across the United States.
“It would be awesome,” said Jeff Bloom, who co-owns Midnight Bisou in partnership with Madaket Stables and Allen Racing. “Anytime you run in those types of races, they’re big, regardless of what you’ve done in the past. She’s training better than ever, and we’re ready for it.”
