Mia Mischief Rides Hot Streak Into Winning Colors

Mia Mischief will carry the silks of Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet as she rides her winning streak to Churchill Downs this Saturday for the $100,0000 (G3) Winning Colors.

The 5-year-old Into Mischief mare, who sold with ELiTE at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton November Sale for $2.4 million to Stonestreet, captured last year’s (G1) Humana Distaff, Roxelana Stakes and Dream Supreme Stakes all under the Twin Spires. The (G3) Winning Colors will be her first Graded Stakes start of her 5-year-old campaign.

“She’s been unbelievably good to us,” said trainer Steve Asmussen. “She’s a beautiful mare that has been extremely good to anybody and everybody that has ever been involved with her.” Now comes her toughest test of the yuear in the Winning Colors, matched against eight other older females. Five rivals are black-type stakes winners, and three- Break Eve, Bell’s The One, and Spiced Perfection- have notched either Grade 2 or Grade 1 wins. Despite their success, Mia Mischief seems likely to be a clear favorite particularly over a Churchill Downs surface over which she has five wins and two seconds from eight starts.
