ELiTE Starts 2019 Strong At Keeneland January

ELiTE Sales kept its momentum from very strong November Sales rolling into 2019 at the Keeneland January Breeding Stock Sale.

A strong Book 1 consignment of 6 mares featured 4 Graded Black Type performers highlighted by the late supplement of 2018 G1 Del Mar Oaks winner FATALE BERE (FR). This select group stood out amongst the catalog and helped ELiTE to close session 1 as the leading consignor by average with our top lot going for $700,000 to Japan’s Shadai Farm.

Rolling into Book 2, ELiTE consigned another group of 6 mares led by The Elkstone Group’s OH MRS. G, a half-sister to G1W ZOFTIG in foal to Coolmore’s PRACTICAL JOKE, who commanded $125,000 from Tom Thornbury who signed the ticket on behalf of C F Farms.

“She has a huge page and I think people were looking for quality and there wasn’t a lot out there, so she kind of stuck out in the catalogue,” ELiTE’s Liz Crow said of the mare’s appeal. “She was a nice physical. She was a very pretty mare. Everyone who pulled her out liked her physical.”

In similar fashion to Session 1, ELiTE closed out Book 2’s first session as the leading consignor by average with a clearance rate of 100% sold.

ELiTE will sell next at Fasig Tipton’s July Horses of Racing Age Sale in Lexington, KY.
