Cairenn, sold for $180,000 to WSS Racing last month at Keeneland November, picked up some more graded blacktype with a 3rd place finish in the G3 Rampart at Gulfstream Park on Saturday.
Now trained by John Ortiz, the five year old daughter of First Dude sat calmly near the back of the pack under a patient ride from Sophie Doyle before being asked for her best around the turn while having to go five wide. She made up several lengths in the stretch, but was unable to make up for the significant ground that was lost around the turn.
